Mildura Eco Living Centre
Mildura 2011
EME’s exciting sustainable architectural exemplar is the first stage in a 50 vision. The overall master plan is being developed in collaboration with CERES. A hub building and cafe for the new Environmental Park located in Mildura on the old landfill site. EME has had to be creative on a tight budget and involve the community in the build. This building will utilise the local earth and incorporate other locally sourced materials. Inside a sculptural earth wall morphs from seat, to bench, niche, sundial, room divider. The dramatic roof plane is the product of extensive solar diagramming. A slide from the main floor to the ground below, a playful addition for kids and the young at heart.

“Luke combined practical and efficient design elements resulting in a unique and attractive design. His design solutions responded to key aspects of the consultation process and were creative responses to the difficult site conditions applying.”
