Thornbury Sound Studio

Thornbury High   2006

The Thornbury School strawbale Sound Studio was designed in close collaboration with the school teachers and students. During the design process practical exercises with various stakeholders exposed the opportunity to design a multi-functional building with optimal spatial planning. The building is used as a traditional recording studio as well as a teaching space. The building is tapered in plan and section providing both an efficient in layout and assists in its acoustic performance. In consolidating the size of the internals we were able to incorporate a external verandah space which merges with a outdoor performance space.
